A Second Financial Crisis May Be More Likely Than You Think See full article from DailyFinance: http://srph.it/aSpZXQ
Moral hazard -- an emboldening of market participants who find themselves insulated from the negative consequences of their bets -- likely only grew after the worldwide bailout of many reckless investors. The supply of easy money that fueled bubbles across asset classes the last time around has only expanded as policymakers try to keep offsetting painful economic contractions. And world markets continue to be dominated by big fund managers who have incentives to exacerbate imbalances rather than promptly correct them, despite what textbook economic theory would like to believe.

Here's how dire the U.S. budget problem is: Even Ben Bernanke isn't downplaying it.
The Fed chief said in testimony before the House budget committee Wednesday that "the federal budget appears to be on an unsustainable path.
Unless we demonstrate a strong commitment to fiscal sustainability in the longer term, we will have neither financial stability nor healthy economic growth,"
Why the worst isn't over yet
In a secular bull market, the equity market does not go to a new low in a recession. In a secular bear market, it does. If you pay attention to the historical record, you can see we're still in the jaws of a secular bear market in equities. Trade accordingly.
I see consumer spending sputtering, the housing market turning down sharply, and private payroll growth falling off a cliff.
Gold is in a secular bull market, but that's a very crowded trade right now. It has moved so parabolically that it could correct 10% without violating any trend lines. Long-term, though, I am sticking with my prediction of $3,000 an ounce. To top of page

Debt crisis is dark cloud over Europe
“All the talk about austerity measures will have an impact on consumer and business confidence – and then you will get the effect of the fiscal tightening itself,” said Robert Bergqvist, chief economist at SEB in Stockholm. “After the stabilisation we have seen in recent months, I think the big test will come after the summer.”
